    Finding myself in a mood to read something to put me in a mood for the coming Halloween holiday, I chose this book, an anthology of horror stories which the author states can be read on their own individually, or as part of a larger connected story While he might have been influenced to structure this collection of stories after that fashion by the many campy yet enjoyable anthology horror films who had their heyday in the 1960s and 70s and off and on intermittently since the structure that worked well for Mario Bava s Black Sabbath does not come across so well in literary form A few of the stories are decent stand alone pieces, but the majority of them are not very cleverly plotted and the overarching storylines of which they are a part never really coalesce that well I would have given this read two and one half stars if it were possible to split the...
